Aunty Fawzia
I met Aunty Fawzia for 1st time when Roy took me to his house for a plate of home cooked curry, back in Conway, Arkansas when we attended UCA. I remember it like yesterday....nothing can compare a simple mom's cooking. Since then she always been there like a mom for Az, Lasso & me. Out of all moments, the best was when I visited Aunty & Uncle in Shatin, Hong Kong. She was holding Athi's hand almost everywhere we went. Athi is still has the rubber snake she got for him from a nearby shop. Later in the day, she wanted to show the country side and we went for a walk on the trails along the bay. I recall thinking to myself "Dang...Auntie is walking faster than me, my gym membership is a waste". We spoke and laughed and she shared her two wishes. She got them when Roy got married & later becoming a grandmother. Her simple approach to life is contagious and her presence nurtured us. We all will see a glimpse of Auntie Fawzia in Nelum, planning a trip to DC to see our Little Fawzia soon.
