Relatives

Fawzia's mother's older brother "Loku uncle" on his wedding day. Mass Noor Thajone Cassiere married Sithy Zulaiha Wahid. They had four children. Fawzia and Loku uncle were close. He last lived in Athurugiriya.

Fawzia's father's younger brother, T. D. Hannan. He was a B.Sc. graduate and a renowned teacher of science. He last served as a director of education and lived at Veyangoda, where Fawzia and I visited him. The photo was taken at Lucknow, India.

T.P. Hannan, "Putra" uncle, when he married Zareen in 1968. He lived mainly at Ibbagamuwa, at his parent's home, managing a petrol station. Incidentally, he was known to my aunty Bee's family as "Tippu uncle". He was serving at the Air Force when they knew him.

Fawzia's sister celebrated her birthday at the lunch following the memorial service

As in previous years, Fawzia's memorial service was conducted at St. Joseph's Home for Elders at Lansigama, Marawila. About 25 relatives and friends attended. Fawzia's sister Shirley and brother Hamlin were present. An former classmate from Maharagama Teachers College (1970-71), Nimal Jayasinghe, also attended. Fr. Harold conducted the service.

After the service, a simple lunch was served. Lunch was also provided to the nuns, workers of the Home, and the retired priests who reside there. Every month, all three meals for two days are provided to the 150 elderly residents in Fawzia's memory.
